Dental disease is one of the most common health problems in dogs and cats.
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, periodontal disease is the most common dental condition in dogs and cats — and by the time a pet is around three years old, most have early evidence of it.
The AVMA also notes that other health problems found in association with periodontal disease include kidney, liver, and heart muscle changes — which is why routine dental care is part of preventive medicine, not just hygiene.

Most pets over age three have some form of dental disease. Untreated, the bacteria don't stay in the mouth — they travel.
More than 8 in 10 dogs and cats over age three have some degree of dental disease.
Bacteria from infected gums can travel to the heart, liver, and kidneys through the bloodstream.
Pets hide pain. Untreated dental disease silently reduces quality of life — every meal, every day.

Dental Care Questions, Answered Clearly.
We want you to understand the process before you schedule. Here are the most common questions about assessments, pricing, anesthesia, extractions, monitoring, and aftercare.
Dental Assessment & Scheduling
What is the dental assessment?
The dental assessment is the first step before scheduling your pet’s dental procedure. During this visit, our team evaluates your pet’s mouth, discusses visible dental disease, reviews your pet’s health history, and helps determine which dental package may be appropriate.
How much is the dental assessment?
To schedule your pet’s dental assessment, a $45 Dental Assessment Deposit is required. This helps reserve your appointment and reduce no-shows. If your pet completes one of our dental packages, the $45 is credited toward the final dental invoice. If you decide not to move forward with the dental procedure, the $45 covers the doctor’s dental assessment.
Is the dental assessment free?
No. The dental assessment is not free and is not waived upfront. A $45 Dental Assessment Deposit is paid when you schedule the assessment. If your pet completes one of our dental packages, the $45 is credited toward the final dental invoice. If you decide not to move forward with the dental procedure, the $45 covers the doctor’s dental assessment.
Why do I need an assessment before booking the dental procedure?
Dental disease can vary widely from pet to pet. Some pets may need a routine cleaning, while others may have loose, infected, fractured, or painful teeth that require extractions. The assessment helps us explain the process and reduce surprises before treatment.
Is the assessment the same day as the dental procedure?
The assessment is usually a separate visit before the dental procedure. In some cases, same-day dental treatment may be possible if it is arranged in advance and the schedule allows. Our team can review options with you during the scheduling process.
Dental Packages & Pricing
What dental packages do you offer?
We currently offer two dental package options: the Essential Dental Package starting at $299 and the Complete Dental Package at $899. Our team will help explain which option may be most appropriate after your pet’s dental assessment.
What is included in the Essential Dental Package?
The Essential Dental Package is designed for pets who need a professional dental cleaning and do not require extensive extractions.
Includes:
- Dental assessment
- Anesthesia
- IV catheter
- IV fluids
- Continuous monitoring
- Dental scaling and polishing
Final recommendations depend on your pet’s oral health and assessment findings.
What is included in the Complete Dental Package?
The Complete Dental Package is designed for pets who may need a more advanced dental procedure, including extractions.
Includes:
- All extractions
- Dental assessment
- Anesthesia
- IV catheter
- IV fluids
- Continuous monitoring
- Dental scaling and polishing
- Regional pain block
- Dental x-rays
Dental extractions can become expensive when itemized separately, especially when x-rays, sutures, anesthesia time, monitoring, and pain control are involved. The Complete Package is designed to give clients a clearer cost ceiling and reduce surprise extraction fees.
Does the Complete Dental Package mean there are no surprise extraction fees?
The Complete Dental Package is designed to cap the cost of dental extractions included in the package, giving clients clearer expectations before moving forward. Some items may still vary depending on your pet’s needs, such as bloodwork, take-home medications, or additional treatments recommended by the veterinarian. Our team will review this with you before the procedure.
Will I know the price before the dental procedure?
Our goal is to be as transparent as possible before your pet’s procedure. The dental assessment allows us to explain available packages, review likely needs, and help you understand the expected cost. Some findings may only be confirmed once your pet is under anesthesia and the veterinarian can fully evaluate the mouth.
Deposit Structure
Is there a deposit after the dental assessment?
No second deposit is required after the assessment. Your $45 Dental Assessment Deposit is credited toward your completed dental package.
Why is the $45 Dental Assessment Deposit required?
The deposit helps reserve your dental assessment appointment and reduce no-shows. If your pet completes one of our dental packages, the $45 is credited toward the final dental invoice. If you decide not to move forward with the dental procedure, the $45 covers the doctor’s dental assessment.
Extractions
Are extractions included?
Extractions depend on the dental package and your pet’s condition. The Complete Dental Package is designed for pets who may need extractions. During the assessment, we can explain what we see and discuss whether extractions may be likely.
Why can’t every extraction be known before the procedure?
Some dental problems are not fully visible while a pet is awake. Pets do not usually allow a complete tooth-by-tooth exam under the gumline without anesthesia. Once your pet is safely under anesthesia, the veterinarian can better assess loose, damaged, infected, or painful teeth.
Will you remove healthy teeth?
No. Teeth are extracted when the veterinarian determines they are diseased, damaged, loose, infected, painful, or no longer healthy enough to remain in place. The goal is to relieve pain, reduce infection, and improve your pet’s oral health.
Anesthesia & Monitoring
Does my pet need anesthesia for a dental cleaning?
Yes. A proper veterinary dental cleaning requires anesthesia. Anesthesia allows the veterinary team to safely clean below the gumline, evaluate the mouth thoroughly, and protect your pet from fear, stress, or pain during the procedure.
Why not do an anesthesia-free dental cleaning?
Anesthesia-free cleanings only address the visible surface of the teeth and do not allow for a complete medical dental procedure. They cannot properly clean below the gumline, evaluate painful teeth, or safely perform extractions.
How is my pet monitored under anesthesia?
During the dental procedure, your pet is monitored by our trained veterinary team. Monitoring may include heart rate, breathing, oxygen levels, temperature, anesthetic depth, and overall stability throughout the procedure.
Is anesthesia safe for older pets?
Age alone does not automatically prevent a pet from having a dental procedure. Older pets may need additional evaluation, bloodwork, or precautions before anesthesia. The assessment helps us determine whether your pet appears to be a good candidate.
Bloodwork, Pain Control & Aftercare
Does my pet need bloodwork before the dental procedure?
Bloodwork may be recommended or required depending on your pet’s age, health history, and procedure. Bloodwork helps evaluate organ function and overall health before anesthesia.
Will my pet receive pain medication?
Yes. Pain control is an important part of dental care, especially when extractions are performed. Pets having extractions may receive pain management during the procedure and may go home with medication depending on the veterinarian’s treatment plan.
What happens after the dental procedure?
After the procedure, your pet will recover under supervision before going home. Our team will review what was done, go over medications if prescribed, and explain feeding and activity instructions.
Can my pet eat after the dental procedure?
Most pets can eat after going home, but the type of food may depend on whether extractions were performed. Pets with extractions may need softened food for a period of time.
Do you provide written aftercare instructions?
Yes. You will receive aftercare instructions so you know what to expect at home, how to give medications if prescribed, and when to contact us with concerns.
Ready to take the next step?
If your pet has bad breath, tartar, red gums, loose teeth, trouble chewing, or you know they are overdue for dental care, the first step is a dental assessment.
A $45 Dental Assessment Deposit is paid when you schedule. It is credited toward the final dental invoice when your pet completes one of our dental packages.
